Schedule of Events for Saturday, April 28
 |
It's a pretty packed schedule for us. But don't worry, we'll keep it simple for guests. |
Pre-ceremony Photos (4:30-5:30 PM)
We are going to take photos with the bridal party and immediate family members prior to the ceremony. (We'll reach out to folks directly if your attendance is required.) Yes, after much debate, we're going to see each other prior to the ceremony. After talking to numerous photographers, it seems like somewhere between two-thirds and three-quarters of couples do this these days. Who knew?? As our photographer, Peter Bruce, pointed out, would we rather spend the cocktail hour taking photos or spending time with our guests? The guests have it.
Ceremony (6:00-6:30 PM)
The ceremony will begin at 6:00 PM right in front of The Legion. It should be pretty obvious (i.e. lots of white chairs). Walter will run the ceremony with opening and closing music provided by Rory Snyder. Please keep in mind that there really isn't any place to go if you get to the ceremony very early because the museum closes at 5 PM. It's likely to be a bit chilly so please remember to bring something warm to wear!
Cocktail Hour (6:30-7:30 PM)
Immediately following the ceremony we will move into the museum for a cocktail hour. During this hour, The Rory Snyder Quartet will provide the entertainment and appetizers and drinks will be provided. Rory was actually Curt's high school band director and plays professionally around the Bay Area year round. (Sorry, Valencia, Rory has requested that you not bring your horn. Something about "not being willing to lower his standards.")
Reception, Dinner, Dancing and General Merriment (7:30-11:30 PM)
At around 7:30 we'll all be herded into the main reception room. For dinner, we did a food tasting with Bon Appetit in February and decided on a delicious pork tenderloin as the main course (though a seasonal vegetarian dish will be available, too). Towards the end of dinner, we'll have the traditional toasts, followed by a dessert buffet (no traditional wedding cake, but Chantal's niece, Madeleine, will be turning 10 so there might be some delicious birthday cake available...). DJ Adrian Cavlan will then play the much ballyhooed "first dance," at which time all cameras are to be turned off to prevent the digital capture of anything embarrassing. We all know what happens next – the money dance, the chicken dance, the macarena, the electric slide. You know classy, sophisticated dances. (Don't worry, these all will be placed on the "don't play" list.)
After Party (11:30 +)
After the reception merriment will continue at the bar at the Rex. We spoke with them about having a bartender there late for us. Shuttles will head to both the Rex and the JW Marriot.
