I like to call him rugged and dangerous. | |
Curtis William Below was born in Palo Alto, CA (Stanford Hospital to be exact) in 1972 with ten little toes and eleven fingers (one of which was promptly removed). He grew up in Sunnyvale, CA, on Holbrook Place, with Amy as a younger sister and Coco and Abby as trusted pets. Curtis proudly attended public school for his K-12 education and went to Homestead High School. The Desperate Housewife Terri Hatcher earned her diploma from the rival high school. My guess is, however, that Terri didn't hang out much with the likes of Curt. His high school friends repeatedly claim that in his teen years, Curtis was, "The spitting image of Napoleon Dynamite!" Curtis (equipped with a 6'4" bean pole frame) played basketball in high school and enjoyed the thrill of the marching band (troubling, I know). UCLA ultimately beckoned Curt for college. While there, he managed to emerge from his socially awkward shell and become a wildly obsessed UCLA basketball fan. After graduation, Curt worked for a brief time at NavTech and then journeyed on to graduate school at UC Berkeley. Though he thought Public Health would tickle his fancy, he quickly realized that Public Policy was the path for him. (He's hoping to have the chance to run for public office one of these days and exercise all he learned!) Two graduate degrees later, Curtis ventured to Sacramento where he worked for two years in the State Assembly as an Assembly Fellow. The call of the Skunks eventually brought him home (along with the promise of starting a company from the ground up). For the past six years, Curtis has been working at Berkeley-based (which now also exists in Washington DC) software company called GetActive. He has helped the company grow from a team of five to a team over over one hundred and he is now armed with more responsibility in the company there than should be officially legal.
Curtis never thought, from his humble beginnings at Stanford Hospital, that we would be marrying a woman so wise beyond her (and his) years. He feels honored and blessed.
