The Bridesmaids
Sisters, high school friends, childhood friends and more! Listed below are the ladies I’ve been lucky enough to learn from and develop incredible friendships with over the years. Enjoy...
Meghan Caponiti
Matron of Honor
Meghan is my oldest sister. She is seven and a half years my senior, she is the proud mother of five children, and she has a more thriving social life than I have ever had (save my senior year in college which was filled with fairly joyous debauchery) or will ever have. She thrives off of the chaos of raising a large family and relishes in the joys of motherhood (most of the time...) while always finding time for a dirty martini. Despite our age difference, Meghan has always been an incredible friend and role model to me and I'm thrilled that she'll be my Matron of Honor!
My favorite song to sing with Meghan: Live Aid, 1985, "Do They Know it's Christmas?" Don't be alarmed when a) this is requested at our wedding in April and b) Meghan and I (equipped with microphones) take over the dance floor.

Rhodie Lorenz
Bridesmaid
Rhodie is my middle sister (though the fact that she's a good seven inches shorter than me has always left people wondering if I am in fact the "little" sister she claims me to be). Rhodie has three rambunctious and lovable sons, and I am the proud Godmother to her youngest, Benjamin, and has always been a thoughtful advice giver, remarkable book recommender, loyal California wine lover (much to my father's dismay), and incredible mentor.
Two experiences I'd love to share with Rhodie: Rhodie is a certified Spinning instructor, a yoga lover, and a runner and biker in a former life (prior to those small Lorenz boys entering into the world). In the coming years, I'd love to do a triathlon with Rhod. I'd also love to write a children's book with her (we talk about me writing and her illustrating). Now that it's documented in writing... we've got to follow through, right?

Amy Below
Bridesmaid
Amy is Curt's younger sister who lives in Los Angeles and is pursuing a PhD in Politics and International Relations. Amy has been bitten by the same travel bug that infected me and has enjoyed jaunts to Australia, Prague, and most recently, Costa Rica. As a small child, Amy has fond memories of being ignored and abused by her elder brother (the very same one I'm marrying...hmmm). Amy and I now bond as we share travel stories and mock Curtis mercilessly. I just can't wait to be a full-fledged member of the family.
Something I envy about Amy: She's been to Cuba! It's top of my list of places to visit.

Lauren Jaeger
Bridesmaid
Lauren and I met our freshman year in high school at the American School in London. We played field hockey and tennis together and surreptitiously explored most pubs throughout the city. Lauren moved to Philadelphia at the end of our sophomore year in high school, but our friendship endured, and we enjoyed the thrill of domestic bliss together for four and a half years in the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco (2001-2006).
My favorite past-time with Lauren: Ask us about our repertoire of foreign accents (she does a mean Austrian and we both give Kylie Minogue a run for her money). Most people put down good cash for the kind of entertainment we provide. Honest.

Kirsten Olsen
Bridesmaid
Kirsten and I met our sophomore year in college at Georgetown. Kirsten was one of the infamous "transfer" students and since I got a rotten pick in the housing lottery, I found myself in the "transfer" dorm. Who knew rotten luck could lead to a remarkable friendship? Kirsten and I lived together for years in and after college and traveled through South East Asia and New Zealand together for three months in 2001 (everyone should visit the Sailing Club in Nha Trang, Vietnam and sky dive over Lake Tapo in New Zealand at least once in their lives...). She's the red-head who will hopefully be dancing on tables by the end of the wedding reception.
Something that drives me crazy about Kirsten: I was convinced I was the biggest John Denver fan before I met Kirsten. I'd been to multiple concerts, I sang his songs on family road trips, and I believed in the Wild Montana Skies (should I be embarrassed about this? Probably). Low and behold, I meet Kirsten. She's a Colorado native and I just can't compete with her JD passion. Damn.

Rebecca Platt
Bridesmaid
Rebecca and I have had a friendship based on intellectual debate since our very first meeting -- in the sand box at Community Nursery School in Lexington, MA. Our friendship has withstood distance (she grew up in Lexington, I grew up in London -- she's 5'1", I'm 5'8") and time (we've known each other for 25 years!) and I am proud to have grown up with Rebecca and learned countless lessons from her. Rebecca appreciates life to the absolute fullest and her optimism and happiness are contagious. Rebecca and her new hubby (Charlie) are heading from Boston to NYC this fall where she'll be pursuing her PsyD.
An interesting insight into Rebecca: Rebecca loves to use superlatives. If (when) she embraces you as a best friend by the end of the wedding weekend, you should feel lucky and blessed. You should also know that Rebecca's local dry cleaner, Starbuck's barista, and CVS pharmacist proudly hold the same title ; )

Pam Byrne
Bridesmaid
Pam and I met at the American School in London during freshmen orientation. We were both fairly awkward, poorly dressed (think early '90's), and a slave to our bangs. We became fast friends and have kept one another entertained for the past fifteen years. Pam has an indescribable wit and is one of the most loyal and loving friends I've ever come across. She currently lives in Chicago, IL (where she works for 1154Lill), with brand-spanking-new husband, Jeff (known as Jeffe to close friends and family... or maybe just to me and Lauren).
My favorite Pam-ism: Pam's greatest attribute (in my opinion) is her sense of humor. You'd think that someone who enjoys laughing, and making others laugh, would have a boisterous laugh herself. Not Pam. In a state of hysterics her mouth is wide open, her stomach's clenched, her eyes are tearing, but no sound comes out. Not a peep. It's priceless.

Madeleine and Isabella Caponiti
Junior Bridesmaids
Madeleine:
My sophomore year in college I was awoken in the middle of the night to the sound of my brother-in-law, Mike, announcing, "It's a girl!" It was Madeleine Chantal Caponiti entering the world. Madeleine is my god-daughter and eldest niece and will be celebrating her 10th birthday on our wedding day! Madeleine is incredibly smart, athletic, compassionate, and a wonderfully imaginative and creative writer. She obviously takes after her aunt ; )
Isabella:
Isabella is Madeleine's younger sister (and Meghan's second daughter). She is the one who occasionally acts shy but has this charming sense of humor and thunderous laugh which comes out about 25 seconds after meeting her. Isabella is curious about everything (maybe that's why she always likes to hang out at the adults' table during family gatherings), is an incredible care-taker to her younger siblings and cousins, and is focused and purposeful in everything she does. I can't wait to watch her grow up!
